The coffee we serve and sell in Cafe Portage is produced in house by our Portage Coffeeworks Roastery. A wide variety of freshly roasted coffee beans is always available including mild, medium and dark roasts. Sweeter toned roasts and decaf beans are always available as well. Interested in getting green beans? We can portion out whatever quantity and type you require.
With our large Probat and our small batch Behmor 1600 roasters we are able provide fresh roasted coffee for wholesale or small custom roasts for the individual coffee connoisseur.

Kenya produces one of the best arabicas in Africa, and in the world. Quality is indicated by precise symbols (AA, AB, C..) Due to the rich volcanic soils on the eastern slope of Mt. Kenya this coffee is very rich and leading in the world market due to its uniqueness.
Tanzania’s premium beans, grown on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro near the Kenyan border, produce an unusually rich coffee with a lighter, winy acidity and medium body. Mythology has it that the peaberry is male, and often associated with virility.
This complex and aromatic gourmet coffee is shade-grown, high up in Antiguas premier mountain growing area, where the beans ripen slowly. Its bright, smooth cup, enhanced by its chocolate note, can be mistaken for its Central American neighbor, Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee.
Natural milling slowly dries and hardens the ripe cherries, giving this coffee an earthy flavour with low acidity and an earthy herbal aroma. Sumatra Mandheling continues to be one of the more popular coffees due to its syrupy body and low acidity.

JAMAICA BLUE MOUNTAIN
World renowned Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee has been deemed by many to be the most desirable coffee on the planet. The Arabica berries are harvested from the majestic Blue Mountains in conditions ideal for growing premium coffee.
HAWAIIAN KONA FANCY
The Kona Coffee Belt on the Big Island of Hawaii is one of the world's premier coffee growing regions. It features high elevation, deep volcanic soils, cool mornings, warm afternoons and natural shading. The bean that results − simply one of the world's best − has a medium body, fine acidity and an aroma reminiscent of a buttery richness with cinnamon and clove overtones.
Captain's Ohana Farm located on the Big Island of Hawaii features hand picked and sun dried coffee. The farm, located in the Kona Coffee district just above Pu'uhonua O Honaunau (Place of Refuge) provides a rich soil that enhances the superb flavour of their gourmet coffee. The caffeine level is slightly higher.
Kopi Luwak is one of the most unique and prized coffee varieties in the world. The very exotic Kopi Luwak coffee bean comes from Indonesia and is derived from coffee eaten by the Asian Palm Civet (Luwak is the Indonesian name for this small mammal). The bean finishes its journey through the digestive system of the civet and once 'delivered', the still-intact beans are collected from the forest floor and then thoroughly cleaned and processed like any other coffee.
The Luwak eats coffee cherries grown on trees and, after its digestive system breaks down the skin and pulp, the Luwak excretes what is known as the parchment. The coffee beans are removed carefully from the parchment one by one and then left to dry in the sun.
The resulting coffee is said to be like no other. It proffers a strong, rich flavor with hints of caramel and chocolate. The body is almost syrupy and very smooth. Adding milk or sugar to this coffee is unnecessary as it competes with the beans natural sweetness, distinct flavors and aromas.
